Steve Whitten
Steve was saved as he lived a life of depression and hopelessness. In 1973, some Christians gave Steve a pocket-sized copy of Psalms, Proverbs, and the New Testament, which intrigued him, as he had never read the Bible before. The categorical language of the Scriptures spoke to him in a way that was different from the mystical and subjective language of other religious literature he had been exposed to. After devouring the New Testament, sometimes for hours a day, Steve found himself having a conversation with the Lord alone in his room. At some point, he believed the gospel by reading Scripture, and the following month, he went forward at a crusade to make a public declaration of Christ. Shortly afterward, Steve enrolled in Christian Heritage College, now San Diego Christian College, where he has been a faculty member for many years.
Steve was married in 1981 to his amazing wife, Marguerite, and has been blessed with four amazing children: Jeremiah, Andrew, Aaron, and Grace. Grace Fellowship was started shortly after Steve finished seminary at Talbot School of Theology in 1987, acquiring a Masters of Divinity in Systematic Theology. Over the years, God has been faithful to send some amazing people who have joined in the ministry. Steve would summarize his testimony thusly: God is faithful!
